What is WHAT?
WHAT rpg was the brainchild of Elixia the Excellent and Grace the Great on July 12th, 2004. Both former members of Lumos Solarum, Riddikulus, MWPP, Winterhill, EWAM and countless other alive or dead RPGs, Elixia and Grace were tired of the stressful, quarrelsome and competitive environments at most high-quality RPG sites.
As you may have noted, the forums were created on July 12th, 2004. However, it was not till January 23rd, 2005, that Elixia and Grace actually remembered they had created them, and skipped back to the site to reclaim their property. WHAT has since developed into a fluorishing RPG with a friendly, tight-knit and fiercely devoted community. It is also now home to RP-ers from all over the world.
WHAT stands for Waverley Heights Academy Time.
More importantly, it also stands for the co-founders’ perpetually confused state of minds.
Where is WHAT?
Waverley Heights is a city located in California, USA. The community is mostly made up of middle class families and the town center is bustling with life. It is a 2 hour drive from San Francisco and an 8 hour drive from Los Angeles. There are three other towns close by – Camberwell Creek (quiet, predominantly Christian town surrounded by nature), Aspendale (filthy rich folks) and Footscray (dodgy shithole). All four towns sit around the beautiful, scenic Lake Kirie.
It’s WHAT again?
Waverley Heights Academy is a boarding school located in the city of Waverley Heights (which the RPG will center around). The boarding school is one of the best High Schools in the State and thus, it attracts students from all over California. Fees are extremely expensive (as most boarding school fees tend to be). It costs $49,000 a year to attend WHA, inclusive of tuition, meals and board, but exclusive of the student’s personal allowance. However, students from less priviledged families have made their way in through grants, scholarships and education loans.
Students at WHA stay in dormitories during the school term, though board during vacation can also be arranged. They are allowed to leave school grounds after lessons and/or extra curricular activities, but must be present for all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). On weekends however, they are free to do as they please and are allowed to eat outside of school, as long as they have signed out at the school office. Curfew everyday is 10pm on weekdays and 11.30pm on weekends.
Uniforms must be worn during lessons and activities, but personal clothing may be worn after school hours.
Waverley Heights Academy’s school mascot is an Eagle, and the school motto is:
Sapienta et doctrina stabilis.
Wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times.
